August Event Rundown

Mark your calendar for one or all of these great events taking place this August! Bring Fido along for the canine 4k or take the kids to one of the many amazing art installations during the Breckenridge International Festival of Arts.

26th Annual L.A.P.S. Canine 4k

Date: Saturday, August 5

Time: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Location: 120 Main Street, Frisco CO

Cost: $25 for one dog | $15 per additional dog

Event Description: For the 26th year, League for Animals & People of the Summit (L.A.P.S.) is bringing their annual Canine 4k to the streets of Frisco for a day filled with dogs, exercise (running or walking), contests, a great silent auction and live music.

Bluegrass and Beer Festival

Date: Saturday, August 5 & Sunday, August 6

Time: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Festival and Beer Garden; 1p.m. – 5 p.m. unlimited beer sampling

Location: Warner Station, Keystone CO 80424


  • $40 per person for one day ($45 at the door)
  • $75 per person for two day pass ($80 at the door)
  • Beer Garden: $6 per pint
  • Food Tickets: $1 per one ticket

Event Description: The Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival has 100 brews from 40+ Colorado breweries. Enjoy live music and bluegrass workshops taking place in Warren Station throughout the weekend.

Breckenridge International Festival of Arts

Date: Friday, August 11 – Sunday, August 20

Location: Breckenridge, CO 80424

Cost: Free

Event Description: The Breckenridge International Festival of Arts is a multi-arts program of extraordinary events in spectacular places and spaces across Breckenridge. Inspired by themes of environment and mountain culture, the 9-day festival brings together a variety of performances, installations, exhibitions, screenings, workshops, talks, and surprise collaborations, with an eclectic mix of music, theater, film, visual and street arts, and family entertainment.

Colorado Classic Bike Race

Date: Saturday, August 11

Time: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Location: Main Street Breckenridge

Cost: Free

Event Description: Breckenridge will welcome stage two of the Colorado Classic. Pro cyclists will participate in four stages for intense high altitude climbing. Stage two will consist of 64 miles made up of ten 6.4 mile laps through the town of Breckenridge.

Spartan Race

Date: Saturday, August 26 & Sunday, August 27

Time: 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Location: Beaver Run Resort, 620 Village Road, Breckenridge CO 80424

Cost: $79 – $215

Event Description: Come watch as brave competitors attempt to conquer the 13+ mile race full of obstacles and challenges from the natural mountain terrain. Will they master the slopes, or will the mountain and altitude break them first? As a Spartan Race spectator, you’ll receive front row seats to cheer on the racers and enjoy music, raffles, entertainment and festival challenges.

Breckenridge Hogfest Bacon & Bourbon

Date: Saturday, August 26

Time: 2 – 6 p.m.

Location: Main Street Station, Breckenridge CO 80424

Cost: $50 tasting ticket | $90 VIP tasting ticket

Event Description: Come enjoy the delectable combination or bacon and Bourbon in the high country. Taste your way through an assortment of pork, premium whiskeys and spirits. Located in Main Street Station, you will enjoy live music, stunning views and can indulge in delicious swine.
