The View from the Bottom is Mike Millisor’s monthly letter to all of the stakeholders of the Breckenridge Grand Vacations family of resorts.
Last month I used this column to reflect on the recent graduation of my oldest son, and on the many memories I have of vacations with family – exploring new places or just hanging out and getting to know each other better. As children grow up and the shape of family changes, these memories become more precious than ever.
Such memories can also become more difficult to create. With adult children in different cities or states, it can be a challenge to bring family members together to spend the focused time that keeps everyone connected. That is one of the main reasons that I am so happy to have spent my career building opportunities for families to get away from hectic day-to-day demands and to spend time together in beautiful surroundings and exciting activities.
Your investment in vacation ownership is an expression of your commitment to keeping friends and family close, to deepening relationships and creating memories. Still, I think we are all prone to consider only our own lifetimes when we make that investment. We picture days spent with children, then with grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. But your investment goes far beyond that.
By purchasing vacation ownership at one of our resorts, you are providing unseen generations of your family with the same benefits that you desired for yourself. You can pass on your ownership and all of its benefits to your children; they can pass it on to their children, and on and on. How does one begin to calculate the hours of enjoyment and the value of family bonds down the generations?
Vacation ownership has always represented an investment in your family. Now if that isn't a great return on an investment, I don't know what is.
