Happy summer from your family at Grand Timber Lodge!

Our visitors though the month of May were not only of the human species, as we were treated to a few visits from the local moose! Our neighborhood fox has also made his return as the weather warms up. Although these guests are truly memorable, remember that they are wild animals and we should be careful to give them enough space for our own safety as well as theirs. No worries about getting close enough to see them: our Activities staff gets beautiful pictures from afar and shares them regularly on our Facebook page!

New for visitors to Breckenridge this summer is the greatly enhanced Breckenridge Epic Discovery program, which opens June 9! Epic Discovery features adventure and educational opportunities for families and visitors of all ages. Incorporating the great amenities of the Peak 8 Fun Park, this new program has also added a thrilling zipline that can reach speeds in excess of 60 MPH! Please stop by the Concierge Desk for more details.

Here is a taste of what has been going on around the property:

  • New living room furniture has been installed throughout the entire resort. We hope that you will enjoy the two chairs in the living room, along with the memory foam mattress on the sleeper sofa. Look for the new lamps, arriving some time in June!
  • Window replacement in Building 2 is also complete, save for a few small items that will be buttoned up in the warmer weather. Even though we replaced over 72 windows and 30 balcony doors, only one dumpster was taken to the landfill! The remaining removed items have found new life as shelter at the community gardens, keeping the young plants warm overnight.
  • Working with our friends at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7, we have been able to breathe new life into the Day Use room! The area now features wooden tables and a comfortable seating area, so you may relax or enjoy a comfortable meal during a day trip to the property.
  • Please help us congratulate Gus and Lori Gustine. They have won two Epic Local passes for next season! Stop by the Concierge Desk to ask how you can be entered to win, too.

Spring has sprung in the high country! We have enjoyed a wonderful winter and are starting to see the early signs of spring and some nice sunny weather. As the snow recedes around the property, we have begun spring cleanup projects that will help our property remain beautiful throughout the change in seasons. Breckenridge closing day is April 23, so be sure to come up and enjoy some spring skiing before the season is over!

While we continue to hold out hope for more snow, we opted to tempt Ullr and the snow gods by bringing out the summer lawn games. Giant Connect 4, bean bag toss and basketball supplies are available at the Front Desk for anyone who would like to enjoy the beautiful weather. We think that our efforts to attract more snow will be successful, as snow appeared in the forecast just after we brought the games out!

Here are some updates on what is going on around Grand Timber Lodge:

  • Please help us congratulate Lee Taylor and Ingrid Starer. They have both won two Epic Local passes for next season! Feel free to stop by the Concierge Desk to ask how you can be entered to win.
  • We are excited about kicking off our spring block schedule on April 15. Most exciting this spring will be the replacement of all living room furniture throughout the entire property. The first delivery of new furniture is set for April 15.
  • Attention avid sledding fans! We now have sleds to rent from our Activities department. For just $5 a day you can rent one of our sleds and take it to your favorite sledding spot, either here on property or in town!
  • New, high-speed garage doors have been installed on the Building 5 garage. These doors operate without the noise and vibration of the old doors, giving the surrounding units a more peaceful experience.
  • Have you heard about our Sustainable Stays program? We have launched this program to minimize our environmental impact. Ask the Front Desk for more details during your next stay and help us do our part to preserve the beauty of Summit County.

Greetings from your family at Grand Timber Lodge!

Signs of spring are starting to appear around Breckenridge and the resort. Temperatures are starting to rise, and with them the Spring Fever festivities! Kicking off with the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge on March 18, you will find events around both the town and the mountain all month. The warmer temperatures make for beautiful days and also result in HUGE amounts of snow. For the winter enthusiast, March is on average the snowiest month of the year!

During the warm days of breathtaking activities all around Breckenridge, the Lodgepole Bar and Grill is home to one of the area’s best happy hours! Running daily from 3-6 p.m., they offer food and drink specials outdoors, on the heated patio. The patio has just received upgraded heaters to take the chill off at the end of the day or as the shade creeps in. Stop by and enjoy select 2-for-1 appetizers during your next happy hour visit!

Congratulations to Betty Simpson, who won two Epic Local passes from our monthly drawing for January! Please contact our On Property Concierge at 970.547.3612 for details about entering the drawing.

Here are a few things that have been happening around the resort this month:

  • Refresh Spa is now offering microdermabrasion treatments. These services are available as their own treatment or as an add-on feature. Come in and enjoy this amazing new service!
  • New recycling containers have been placed in each hallway, near the elevator. Use these new, attractive bins as an easy collection place for all of your recyclables during your stay.
  • Similarly, new trash cans with windshield washing stations have been placed near the exits of the garages. Before you hit the road, take the time to clean off your windshield and headlights so you can travel safely.
  • Two new treadmills have been installed in the Building 6 fitness area. The new machines have the durability to help you train for a marathon!
  • A new, enclosed waiting area has been created for the shuttle. Just across the driveway from the previous waiting area you will find a partially enclosed area with a heater for chilly days. When weather permits, this will become a more permanent stop.

Work Hard, Play Harder: Find the Perfect Career in Breckenridge

Most of us BGV employees ended up living amongst these gorgeous mountains in pursuit of adventure, leaving hopes of a career behind. We were willing to give up traditional lifestyles, choosing instead to focus on living for the moment. We did so gladly. We understood that happiness is achieved through experiences that can’t always be encountered from behind a desk. We kissed our hopes for a career goodbye because we thought that was the compromise we had to make in order to live and play in Summit County. And, it seemed worth it, at least for a short while.

But, what if we told you that you can have your cake and eat it, too? That’s right! You CAN grow your professional career, all while living out your dreams in beautiful Breckenridge. How? Work for Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV). It really is that simple.

BGV is known as the employer of choice in Summit County, consistently distinguished as a Top Workplace by the Denver Post and recently named as the Best Place to Work by the Summit Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. BGV has just over 500 employees, almost 200 of which have been with the company for a significant amount of time. Career longevity is strong at BGV.

With 68 employees having worked at the company for three to five years, 81 employees having worked at the company for five to ten years, and 30 employees having worked at the company for over 10 years, the proof is in the pudding (or, the powder). In case you weren’t aware, those are extremely impressive statistics for this seasonal resort town!

How does BGV manage to not only hang on to employees but get them excited to go to work every day? According to Guest Services Supervisor, Julianna Nopson, “BGV goes above and beyond when it comes to taking care of their employees! When you are a part of BGV, you truly feel like a part of a big happy family who really cares about each other!”

BGV has two full-time employees dedicated to training staff on the BGV culture and it makes a Grand difference. The company embraces an inverted pyramid leadership style, making the executive leadership team approachable and supportive to any level employee. Everyone at the company is treated as an equal, even by the Owners/ Developers, Mike Millisor and Mike Dudick, who know the majority of their 500 employees by name. There are many other reasons that members of the BGV family stick around for so long, but you’ll have to learn more about that in your interview! Apply today at

Greetings from Breckenridge!

2017 started off in a Grand way. With around 87 inches of snow, bluebird days and the International Snow Sculptures, plenty has been happening in the Town of Breckenridge. Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day and the Mardi Gras Parade are sure to bring excitement and activity in February. The annual Mardi Gras Parade will take place on February 28 at 4:30 p.m., and will be followed by a free concert in the Riverwalk Center. For more details, go here.

Set some time aside during the month of love for a little self-love at Refresh Spa. With the options of a couples massage, deep tissue massage, manicure and access to the steam room, there is a little something anyone would love. Can’t make it up this month? A gift certificate is another great way to spread the love.

Congratulations to Enrique and Lidia Suarez, winners of two Epic Local Passes in our December draw! Please contact our On-Property Concierge at 970-547-3612 for details on how to enter the monthly drawing.

Here is a little of what has been happening around the resort:

  • The Lodgepole Bar and Grill general store now offers some grab-and-go breakfast items from 8 a.m. onwards. Their breakfast burritos are made in-house and are perfect for a quick bite on a powder day.
  • Have you ever wondered where everyone finds the robes that keep them warm by the pool? You will find them at Refresh Spa for use during your visit.
  • The installation of the UV sanitation system has been completed on the Building 5 pool. This new sanitation system will help to ensure that our pool waters continue to be crystal clear.
  • Are you excited for the new living room furniture? The design work has been completed and orders placed, with installation expected to begin in April.
  • New “no smoking” plaques have been installed on each deck to remind all our guests that our decks are now smoke free.

Greetings from snowy Breckenridge! Winter has arrived with a fury. With a pair of large storms before the holidays, we have already enjoyed over 100 inches of snow this season, and there is more in the forecast; snow enthusiasts rejoice! Be sure to book your Day Use reservation today and come play in the mountains! If Bonus Time or Day Use is not available, remember that you can book a 20 percent off reservation at any Breckenridge Grand Vacations Resort. This is an owner’s only discount and a great option if there is no availability at Grand Timber Lodge.

Though we have enjoyed a few generous snowstorms, January affords us a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Norse god of snow, Ullr! This year’s Ullr Fest runs January 11 through January 14 and is a Viking celebration for all ages. As part of the celebration, the Carriage House Early Learning Center will be hosting a comedy night at the Riverwalk Center the evening of January 13. Come support a good cause and enjoy an evening of laughter!

Congratulations to Aimee and Brian Tuttoilmondo, who won two Epic Local Passes from our monthly drawing for November. Please contact our On Property Concierge at 970-547-3612 for details on how to enter the drawing.

As we look forward to the new year, we are excited about a host of property improvements planned throughout the year. At this early juncture, our plans and timelines are just beginning to take shape, but here is just a sampling of what we expect to accomplish:

  • The new windows in Building 1 have proven to provide a more comfortable, draft-free experience, so we will be replacing all the windows and doors in Building 2 as well. This project is slated to begin toward the end of April and will last approximately six weeks.
  • As soon as weather permits, Buildings 3 and 4 will receive a fresh coat of paint.
  • We are extremely excited to be updating all the living room furniture in every unit throughout 2017. Please join the Grand Timber Lodge Owners Association Facebook page for updates on this project as it comes closer.
  • Look for a renovation of the Building 1 Steam Room to be completed soon, as we seek to provide a more user-friendly experience.

As we celebrate the end of a successful year, from our family to yours, we hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season full of love, laughter, and light!
