View from the Bottom

The View from the Bottom is Mike Millisor and Mike Dudick’s monthly letter to all of the stakeholders of the Breckenridge Grand Vacations family of resorts.

Happy Summer! We are in the throes of an amazing summer here in Breckenridge, with those crisp summer evenings that are perfect for a light blanket on your favorite deck and the wild flowers all abloom on some of the best hikes in Summit. Like the old local’s adage says, “We came for the winters but stayed for the summers!” And as always, we hope you are enjoying all that summer brings as well.

We have some recent news to share with you all, and it begins with our passion statementOur Family Commitment: Always Grand Vacations—as this is the cornerstone of every decision we make.

To provide you with the service you deserve and the Grand vacation experiences you have come to expect from us, we hire only the very best talent to join our family of employees. That is why it’s so important that we continue to focus on finding solutions to some of the challenges facing the local workforce community here in the high country. These challenges include cost-of-living increases and affordable housing shortages. To learn more, please read these recent local newspaper articles: Affordable housing out of reach for Summit County’s low-income immigrants and Summit School District ranked second in highest cost of living in the state.

As the largest year-round employer in Breckenridge, we are committed to doing our part to continue recruiting and retaining top-notch employees who truly care about our owners and guests. As such, we are excited to announce that BGV has recently signed a master lease with a local developer who is going to build a new affordable employee housing complex on Airport Road in Breckenridge. This complex will be known as Barton Landing and will create 32 new rental condominiums for BGV employees and their loved ones. Barton Landing will feature 16 one-bedroom condominiums and 16 two-bedroom condominiums and will open in the fall of 2019. In addition, we are currently exploring more employee-housing master-lease options throughout the county.

By creating these affordable housing solutions for our hard-working employees, we can ensure our ability to continue providing you and your friends and family with Grand vacations created by smiling, happy employees who can afford and enjoy life in the mountains!

We appreciate your support and input around this increasingly important topic in our area. Should you have any questions or simply want to share an idea, we are all ears as we strive to be a leader by taking a solutions-based approach to our community’s issues.

Gold Point Property Information

Dear Gold Point Homeowners,

We are enjoying a wonderful summer up here in the high country. The weather has been beautiful, the flowers are out and the resort has been incredibly busy.

Eileen Taylor has recently joined the Gold Point Front Desk Team. Eileen originally moved to Breckenridge in the 80s. Eileen has been an excellent addition to the team, and she is happy to share her local knowledge with you the next time you are in Breckenridge.

We have recently added a bike-wash station on property. The station is in the upper parking lot, just north of the Registration Building. Based on your feedback, the Engineering team recently made all dining-room chandelier lighting dimmable on property.

The month of July brings several exciting events to Breckenridge. On July 28, the Food and Wine Festival will take over Main Street Station. More than 300 wines will be available at the event. Learn more about the event and purchase tickets here.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer and that you will visit Gold Point soon. As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let me know.

Grand regards,
Lindsay Reinwand
