Snowshoe Hikes

ss_famundergondola12Summit County is full of awe-inspiring trails that will take your breath away! Whether that’s because of the elevation you will be at or the views you will see is another story.

Grand Timber Lodge, Grand Lodge on Peak 7, and Grand Colorado on Peak 8 have trails right outside their back doors. Strap on your snowshoes and be prepared to have a peaceful adventure walking through our local majestic woods.

The Select Ten trail from Grand Timber offers an hour-long loop winding up to the Sawmill Reservoir located above the property. Scenic photo spots abound as you take in your surroundings.

The Peaks Trail, a minute’s walk from Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and a five-minute walk from Grand Colorado, is an eight-mile trail connecting Breckenridge to Frisco. This moderate difficulty trip skirts the base of the Ten Mile mountain range, allowing wonderful views as well as more intimate close quarters in the forest. This can be done as an out and back excursion or as a full day trip in which you can take advantage of the county-wide free bus transportation (Summit Stage) to get you back from Frisco.

Nordic centers in Summit County also offer amazing groomed trails for a small fee. Our Activities departments are always happy to recommend more options, as there are many trails available in Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and Silverthorne!
