The View from the Bottom is Mike Millisor’s monthly letter to all of the stakeholders of the Breckenridge Grand Vacations family of resorts.

New Artwork at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8!

Those of you who have been owners with us for a long time know that with each resort we’ve built, we have increased the range of amenities and services to accommodate your needs. We strive to make our resorts the best they can possibly be, to ensure that your vacation with us is GRAND!

When the beautiful Grand Colorado on Peak 8 opened in December, we received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from our owners and guests. At the same time, there was also some negative feedback about the resort’s artwork. Many of you found it to be too mundane and monochromatic. We heard you and we’re happy to report that we’ve done something about it.

In January, we commissioned artist James Jensen to create a statement piece for each unit in GC8. Classically trained in art from a young age and encouraged to explore and experiment with his own creativity, James made his mark in the world of art — particularly with his brilliantly hued contemporary paintings. When the first shipment of artwork arrived at the end of May, we were blown away by the collection before us! Each piece is unique, some on canvas and others on metal, with vibrant and energetic colors that now punctuate the mountain modern decor of GC8’s units.

We didn’t just stop there. Long-time Breckenridge photographer Carl Scofield was also commissioned to create a variety of pictures to grace the common areas of GC8. Ranging from abstract patterns of aspen trees to layered compositions of Breckenridge culture, Carl’s work has added wonderful pops of color along the main hallways on the Terrace level and Grand Lobby.

In addition, we acquired several prints from contemporary abstract artist Kristina Duewell, who also lives and works in Breckenridge. These pieces are part of her visionary Space Series and are not only beautiful, but also emotionally rich and captivating. You’ll see some of Kristina’s artwork within Infinity Spa and in the hallways on the Terrace and First levels, as well.

If you haven’t yet stayed at GC8 or stopped by for a visit, we hope that when you do you’ll enjoy the colorful new artwork throughout the resort, along with the stunning new lobby and outstanding amenities in your Breckenridge home on Peak 8.  As always, we’d love any of your feedback about it.
