Interested in learning more about the history of Breckenridge? Now is the perfect time to take a guided tour through the nationally recognized historic district with a local expert! Learn about the hardy souls that lived in Breckenridge in the 1800s, see some of the earliest homes in town and hear stories about gold seekers from more than 100 years ago.

Join the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance on a fun “Behind Swinging Doors” saloon tour, which highlights the eighteen saloons that were built in 1880 and allows you to visit several of the establishments that have survived since the early days. If you are looking for a more active hike, try the Iowa Hill Gold Miner’s Hike. You can see authentic mining artifacts and informative signs that tell the story of how gold was extracted from the surrounding hills. Experience life as a miner in Breckenridge’s early days when you visit the restored miners’ boarding house from 1868.
