Letter from the General Manager
The ski conditions are great and the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is looking GRAND! This year has been the Grand Lodge on Peak 7’s first year being 100 percent open. It’s hard to believe 2014 is behind us, time sure does fly when you’re having fun! We’ve made some great improvements around the resort, and we will continue to look for ways to make the vacation experience even better for our owners. Our goal is to always look for ways to improve the resort, so please let us know if you have any suggestions. In the past year, we’ve been able to observe how our owners use the resort and will be focused on adding new and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. We are very happy to say that we have done a phenomenal job recruiting and hiring housekeepers, and feel that our current housekeeping staff is the best we’ve ever had. We will be working with them to find better and more efficient ways to clean and operate the resort. We’ve made some other exciting changes to the leadership team at GL7, and have some really great priorities and objectives for the resort. I am more than happy to discuss some of our initiatives with anyone, so please let me know if you have any questions regarding our operations goals for the coming year. Happy New Year to all of our owners, and we hope to see you at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 very soon. Below are a few exciting property updates to look for the next time you are at GL7:

  • We are excited to announce the construction trailers have been removed, and we will install the permanent GL7 entryway signs this spring.
  • We have upgraded our Wi-Fi equipment in the South Building and added another 100MB of bandwidth for the guest Wi-Fi network.
  • All of the sofa sleepers in the One Bedroom Master units have been replaced, as well as all of the king beds in Phase 1 and 2.
  • We have installed an automatic Eucalyptus Mistifier in the steam room.
  • The display case in the connector has been removed and a comfortable seating area has been added.

gl7_april_w640[1]Property Update

As we say goodbye to the fabulous ski season, we turn our focus turns toward getting Grand Lodge ready for all of the exciting activities the summer season offers in Breckenridge.  However, we would like to remind everyone that May is still a fantastic time to visit Breckenridge.  During the month, a majority of the wonderful restaurants in Summit County offer 2-for-1 specials and there are still plenty of exciting activities to keep you busy!  Arapahoe Basin remains open in May.   Fly fishing, indoor ice skating, the Mountain Top Children’s Museum, hiking, the Breckenridge Recreation Center, weekend museum tours hosted by the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance, wine tastings, distillery tasting, shopping, the Dillon Movie Theater and the Dillon Bowling Alley are just a few of the multitude of activities to enjoy until the “official” summer season kicks off in Breckenridge.

The operations team at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 will also be very busy working on projects around the resort.  Below is a list of property updates as well as scheduled projects for May:

  • BGV has recently partnered with Regal Hospitality to supply housekeepers.  We are looking forward to this partnership which has brought enthusiastic housekeepers from around the world.
  • Remember that every Wednesday at 9 a.m., owners can meet at the lobby bar for “Coffee Talk with the GL7 GM” to offer feedback and discuss future projects at Grand Lodge on Peak 7.
  • Starting on April 28th, the gondola will be closed for the month of May.  The gondola will remain closed through June 12th.  From June 13th-September 1st, the gondola will operate daily from 9:30 a.m.-5:30pm. From September 2nd-14th, the gondola will only operate Friday- Sunday.
  • Just a friendly reminder that outside alcohol is not permitted in the common areas, including the indoor and outdoor pool areas.
  • The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is part of a program called “Clean the World” that helps provide leftover soaps and shampoos to individuals who are in need of these products.  GL7 has been participating in the program for about two years.
  • Coming soon: Tree Planting! Help us re-forest Summit County after the devastating effects of the pine beetle. With your help, we can make a difference in the beauty and sustainability of our landscape.  More information will be coming soon.

Spring Projects:

  • April 30th-May 1st: Theaters 3 and 4 will be closed for cleaning.
  • April 28th-30th: Grotto will be closed.  Soothe Day Spa will also be closing at 6 p.m. during this time.
  • May 14th-15th: Theaters 1 and 2 and the Family Fun Center will be closed.
  • May 19th-23rd: The indoor pool and hot tub will be closed.
  • May 26th-30th: The outdoor pool and hot tubs will be closed.  Certain portions of the outdoor pool areas are open during this week, but we cannot determine which portions until the work is being performed.

We would like to thank all of our owners for all of their feedback and comments provided to help us improve the resort for everyone.  We are committed to providing great vacations and it’s truly a team effort.  Thank you!

Jason Bretz, Grand Lodge on Peak 7 General Manager

stu[1]Soothe Employee Spotlight:
Meet Stu!
Stu graduated from the Boulder College of Massage in 2004.  In 2005, his desire to be back in the mountains brought him to Summit County. Stu has been working for Breckenridge Grand Vacations at both Soothe Day Spa and the Grand Victorian Day Spa for eight years.  Stu enjoys getting out with friends and enjoying all the outdoor activities Summit County has to offer. This also gives Stu plenty of opportunities to practice the latest techniques in sports massage, deep tissue massage and treatment work so that his friends will be ready to get back to the great outdoors the next day.

Stu’s Spring Hiking Tip:
For every 1,000 feet above sea level, you are exposed to about 5% more UV. This means that at Wolf Creek’s summit, a person receives nearly 60% more UV exposure than a person at sea level. Moreover, snow reflects UV very effectively, multiplying exposure. Applying and reapplying sunscreen is crucial, even on a cloudy day. Consider lip balm with sunscreen in it as well. Sunglasses with UV protection are essential.

Grand Lodge on Peak 7 opened its final Phase on December 22nd.  We celebrated with Champagne in the Grand Lobby as our first set of Owners checked-in to stay in these rooms for the very first time. Ski conditions are great right now with more snow in the forecast.  Breckenridge also opened Peak 6 on Christmas Day and the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 gives you great access to this new terrain.  Below are a few other exciting updates from December:

  • The indoor pool floor was “roughed” up using a bush hammer to address the slippery conditions that have developed over the past year.  This was a developer’s expense.
  • We opened the new outdoor parking lot, which will allow us to accept more day use reservations.
  • Grand Lodge on Peak 7 purchased a new truck and will be getting a plow for it to help us maintain our Resort.
  • Opened a new concierge desk / supply shop in the connector near the ski lockers.  We carry all of your ski needs here.  Check it out!
  • Soothe Day Spa has increased its retail inventory and has some great gift ideas.  Please stop by during your next visit.

The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 will continue to focus on anticipating our Owners needs to help create great vacations!  We are looking forward to seeing all of our owners enjoying the resort this ski season.  See you then!
