Wassail Days

Wassail Days is the perfect event to kick off winter and get you in the holiday spirit! Enjoy unique wassail (hot, spiced cider) recipes at local Frisco businesses, and celebrate with seasonal community events. Enjoy the festivities and happy wassail-ing!

  • Wassail Sampling: Wassail, a hot, spiced cider, will be served up hot at over 50 local businesses throughout Frisco! Try each unique recipe and decide which is your favorite. Try at least twelve varieties and fill out your “12 Sips of Wassail” card for a free, commemorative Frisco Wassail Days mug while supplies last!
  • Small Business Saturday: Start the Wassail Days festivities by shopping at local businesses and stores, or by enjoying a bite to eat at one of the many Frisco restaurants!
  • Carolers on Main Street: Carolers will make their way up and down Main Street filling the town with good cheer and holiday music.
  • Frisco Tree Lighting: A special guest will join us, and we will illuminate the town tree at 6:30pm. Sing along with carolers, enjoy fireworks, and warm up with fire pits. Hot wine, wassail, and s’mores kit sales will benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center.
  • Santa Visits: Santa will visit with children to find out their fondest wishes. Bring your camera for photos.
  • Free Nordic Skiing: Free Nordic skiing trail use and rentals at the Frisco Nordic Center, while supplies last. The last rental goes out at 2:00pm. *Snow permitting
  • Breakfast with Santa: Join Santa for a breakfast to benefit the Summit County Preschool. Details and location to be determined!

Lighting of Breckenridge

December 3

This annual event is a favorite of locals and visitors alike! The Lighting of Breckenridge and Race of the Santas is the unofficial mark of the beginning of winter. Hundreds of participants dressed in Santa costumes will race down Main Street. After the race, hundreds of thousands of holiday lights transform Breckenridge into a real-life Hallmark card.

  • Handmade Holiday Market in the Arts District: Local artisans will showcase their work made on the Arts District campus. Find the perfect handmade holiday gifts for your loved ones!
  • Holiday Dog Parade: Our favorite, festive furry friends will kick off the parade down Main Street donning their best holiday attire!
  • Race of the Santas: What better way to kick off the holiday season than hundreds of Santa lookalikes racing down Breckenridge Main Street.
  • Children’s Mose March: This race gives kids 12 and under a chance to participate in the events. Kids are encouraged to dress up, and all participants will receive a Moose Hat!
  • Countdown to Tree Lighting with Santa Claus: Join Santa in the countdown to light all 250,000 holiday lights in Breckenridge!

Friends of CAIC will be hosting their 15th Annual Benefit Bash to support the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. This event supports avalanche forecasting, free avalanche awareness courses, and trailhead signage throughout the state! Join Friends of CAIC and help keep backcountry users save in their largest fundraising event of the year!

Ullrfest

December 8-11

Don your Viking helmets and get ready for the 59th annual Ullr Fest! Ullr Fest, a beloved local event, was created shortly after the founding of Breckenridge Ski Resort to pay homage to the Norwegian snow god- Ullr. To repay Ullr for the gift of snow, and to wish for a powder-filled ski season, the town of Breckenridge and visitors celebrate with a parade, shotskis, a massive bonfire, and more! This event is a must-attend this December.

  • Ullr Parade: Watch the Ullr and winter-themed floats as they take over Main Street! Awards will be given to the best!
  • Crowning of Ullr King and Queen: The King and Queen of Ullr recognizes two local residents for their contributions to our community and their love of snow!
  • World Record Shotski: Each year Park City and Breckenridge compete to break the unofficial world record for the world’s longest shotski! Over 1300 people will line up down Main Street to take a shot of Breckenridge Distillary Bourbon in unison!
  • Ullr Bonfire: The entire town gathers for a massive bonfire in honor of Ullr and wishes for a snow-filled ski season! Previous year’s Christmas trees serve as our bonfire fuel!
  • Ullr Ice Skating Party: Head to Stephen C. West Ice Arena for an ice skating party the whole family can enjoy! Skate rentals are available for $4 or you can bring your own for free entry.
  • Ullr Comedy Night: Keep the good times and laughs rolling with a comedy show performed by Jimmy Dunn at the Riverwalk Center!
