Fat Biking

Just because it’s winter, doesn’t mean that biking must come to an end in Breckenridge. Fat bikes have oversized tires that give the bike more surface and grip on unstable surfaces such as snow, mud, or sand. If you’ve spent any time in Breckenridge over the past few winters, you may have noticed all the snow enthusiasts joining you on the town trails, bike lanes, and Nordic center. Whether you’re a first timer or a biking enthusiast, fat bikes can be a new thrill.

If you’re looking to hit the trails through town on your own, it’s easy to rent a fat bike in Breckenridge. Breckenridge Grand Vacations partners with Alpine Sports in order to offer our owners a 20 percent discount when booked with our Concierge team. If you are looking to head out on the trails, be sure to find the groomed, packed trails that are needed for fat biking. Some trails around town that would be good start are Blue River Rec Path, Breckenridge to Frisco, and all the bike lanes throughout downtown Breckenridge.

In Breckenridge, Ridden also offers guided fat biking tours. Enjoy a 3.5-mile downhill ride to the Breckenridge Distillery and Broken Compass Brewery. Both tours start in downtown Breckenridge and ride out to Airport Rd. Your first stop will be the Breckenridge Distillery, where you will get a behind-the-scenes tour and partake in two tasting rounds where you will experience vodkas, gins, spiced rum, bourbon and bitters and get a behind-the-scenes tour. Your next stop will be Broken Compass, just a quick ride away. There they offer brewery tours upon arrival, and you will also get a taste of the best craft brewery in Breckenridge. For more information on the fat bike tours, contact Ridden at 970-453-2055.
