Happy New Year from your family at Gold Point Resort! We hope that you share our enthusiasm for the year ahead as we look forward to our 32nd year of creating grand vacations for our owners and guests!
January in Breckenridge is of course a snowy time, when we celebrate Ullr, the Norse god of snow. Ullr Fest marks its 53rd year January 13–16, and Breckenridge invites snow lovers of all ages to join the party. During Ullr Fest, don’t be surprised to see horned Viking helmets adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders, Ullympic competitors flinging frying pans for prizes, more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade and crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding through town in a hot tub. Join us to rejoice with Ullr himself.
From January 26 to February 7, the International Snow Sculpture Championships will take place in the Tiger Dredge parking lot adjacent to the Riverwalk Center. Watch as teams from around the world each work to turn 20 tons of snow into incredible works of art within just a few days. You’ll learn about the process of snow sculpting, how the teams came to be, where their design inspiration comes from and more. Volunteers will have the opportunity to stomp the snow blocks into place beginning January 18. The completed sculptures will be on display until February 7, weather permitting. As a spectator you’ll also get a chance to vote for the People’s Choice winner.
Around Gold Point Resort, we will finally allow ourselves to get excited about the year ahead. 2016 will bring new bedroom furniture to the entire resort! This furniture will bring a new look and feel to every bedroom, to complement the kitchen and living room upgrades that were done over the past several years. A number of other minor improvements are slated to be made elsewhere around the resort, so we encourage you to come see what we are up to!
