Letter from the General Manager
Ski season has arrived! Arapahoe Basin opened on October 13 for the 2017-2018 ski season, and Breckenridge Ski Resort has a planned opening date of November 10. The staff at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 is very excited to kick off the ski season, and we hope everyone shares the same level of excitement! This will be the first year the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 will be open for the first day of the ski season at Breckenridge Ski Resort, and our location at the base of Peak 8 will make opening day even more enjoyable with direct lift access right out our door. Peak 8 is the first area of the ski resort to open every year, so the owners of GC8 will have easy access to this terrain year after year. Another exciting announcement is Robbie’s Tavern will be open for breakfast at 8 a.m. starting mid-November, so you can enjoy a coffee, a burrito, or a variety of homemade items while you sit and watch for the lifts to open right out the tavern window!
The staff has been very busy performing deep cleans and preventative maintenance around the resort in preparation for ski season. We will now begin to shift our focus away from getting the resort set up for ski season to looking for opportunities to enhance the vacation experience and the Day Use experience. One exciting addition to look for is a family bathroom located on the Plaza level near the ski locker rooms. Another exciting new feature is the fire table located on the outdoor pool deck overlooking the slopes. Our Activities Department will also be offering a s’more-making activity, so please stop by to sign up for this great family recreation. We will also be selling supplies to make s’mores in the Peak 8 Market.
The rooftop grilling area will be completed in November in time for the busy holiday season. It will have six grills with seating areas so you can enjoy the beautiful views while using the grills. The regrading of Ski Hill Road will also be completed in time for ski season, and the work on Building 3 will be put on hold until the spring. So, please come visit soon to see all the wonderful additions we have had since last ski season!
