Letter from the Assistant General Manager
Summer is continuing to fly by in Colorado’s high country. The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 staff is excited to welcome back many familiar faces and help book those last-minute getaways before school is soon back in session. Don’t forget the annual August events that are hosted right on Main Street in Breckenridge. The Breckenridge International Festival of Arts is will take place August 9–18, while the Breckenridge Hogfest: Bacon and Bourbon will take place August 23–25. Labor Day will be early this year, so don’t forget to make your long weekend plans in Breck!
It’s no secret that Colorado has been native to many wildfires the past few summers. While Summit County and surrounding areas are currently on low fire danger and off drought, our team has been taking advantage with mitigation efforts that will serve us well for years to come. The northwest side of the North building has seen a dramatic change to the forest perimeter, which was identified as the biggest concern if a wildfire were present in the area. Mitigation efforts included the removal of 185 trees, elimination of 1500+ pounds of coarse ground fuels, and establishing a 100-foot perimeter between the forest and the building.
While summer fun is still in full swing, don’t forget that Epic passes typically go up in price following Labor Day. Skiing will be here before you know it! We look forward to seeing everyone during your next trip to the Grand Lodge on Peak 7!
