We daresay that temperatures have begun to fall ever so slightly, with a slight frost gracing our shaded areas on a few mornings toward the end of August. Nevertheless, as the weather begins to turn toward fall, Breckenridge kicks events into high gear!

Grand Timber Lodge was honored to once again host the families of the Wounded Heroes project for a week in August. Nine families spent the week at Grand Timber and enjoyed some quality time together in Breckenridge. Thank you to all of our owners who donated their weeks to this great program!

The peak season for fall colors typically begins in early September and can stay brilliant throughout the entire month, depending on the weather. A scenic drive over Boreas Pass can be completed in an afternoon, while Independence Pass can be a full-day experience. Of course, there are many roads and trails off the beaten path that offer fabulous vistas and our Activities team is happy to help guide you to a route that fits your desires.

Breckenridge Oktoberfest returns for the 22nd season from September 9-11! Breckenridge doesn’t take the responsibility of hosting the largest Oktoberfest street party in the Rocky Mountains lightly. The September street party is where Munich meets the mountains, featuring more than three dozen genuine German cuisine and brew vendors, excessive Bavarian lederhosen dancing, and a weekend packed full of sunshine and fun for all ages. Prepare yourself to see the famed historic Main Street flowing with Paulaner Bier, Oompah dancers, schnitzel, and sausage while traditional polka music fills the fresh mountain air.

New this year is the first annual Breckenridge Wine Classic, September 15-18. The festival will cover a wide range of experiences on the mountain, in the arts district, in restaurants around historic Breckenridge, in classrooms, and more! Tickets to a number of different events, such as a farm-to-table dinner, wine on the mountains, or a grand finale toast, can be found online and purchased in advance. Breckenridge Grand Vacation owners can save 25 percent on Grand Tastings by entering promo code GVOWNERS at checkout.

Around Grand Timber Lodge, preparations are under way for an exceptionally busy period of resort upgrades this fall. Here is a look at what is planned:

  • New hallway carpet will be installed on the first floor of Building 6 during the first week of October.
  • New dining room furniture, including tables, chairs, and barstools, will be placed in Buildings 5 through 8.
  • New furniture is on order for the elevator landing areas and a few hidden nooks throughout the common areas.
  • The elevator cabins in Buildings 3 and 4 will receive a facelift.
  • Replacement of the windows in Building 1 will begin September 12.

      Hi Gary,
Oktoberfest is normally the second weekend of September, but that is always subject to change. The town of Breckenridge plans these events, so we are never fully sure of the dates until the release them.
