Grand Timber Lodge Property Information

Letter from the General Manager

Can you smell something cooking at the Lodgepole Bar and Grill? New this month is a comfort menu with daily specials that will help you feel right at home. The specials will change on a regular basis, but look for items such as chicken fried steak, fish and chips, and a stuffed crab sole. These dishes will be perfect to indulge in after a long day of adventure or travel!

At one time or another, we have all been caught in traffic while driving on I70., The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) offers several tools that can help avoid these traffic headaches. One of the most effective tools is, of course, is to travel during off-peak times. Peak times are generally Friday evenings and Saturday mornings for westbound travel, and Sunday afternoons and evenings heading east. If you find yourself traveling east during these times, a reprieve can be found with the Express lane between the Empire and Idaho Springs exits. Pricing for this toll lane is dynamic and fluctuates based on traffic, but can save you up to 30 minutes of travel time.

Additionally, CDOT offers frequent updates on conditions through their Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as their official website. For those on the move, CDOT sends notifications by email or text message. You can enroll for email or text updates . These updates are often the very same information that we utilize at the resort to provide you with information on travel conditions.

We hope that these tools and suggestions can help make your trip to and from Breckenridge stress and hassle free this year!

Here are a few things happening around the resort:

  • An early October snowfall severely damaged several trees around the property. After the damage was assessed, a long-term plan was implemented to ensure that trees and landscaping across the resort remain healthy and vibrant for decades to come. Though some unhealthy trees have been removed, we look forward to fostering a healthy forest!
  • During the early November resort closures, new LED lighting was installed in both the Building 1 and Building 5 pools. The LED bulbs have an extended service life and offer significant energy savings compared to the previous versions.
  • With the opening of the Breckenridge Ski Resort, our shuttle service has shifted to its winter hours and will be operating from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. through ski season.
