Greetings from your family at the Grand Timber Lodge!

Summer in Breckenridge is beautiful, fun, lively, and certainly not long enough! This time of the year I love getting out on my mountain bike as the crowds on trails dissipate, the weather is picture perfect, and the leaves start to change. For another quick tip from a local, make sure to head to the top of Boreas Pass for amazing hiking and scenery, and the best wildflower views around! Take time on your way down to enjoy the scenic overlook of Breckenridge framed by the beautiful aspen leaves.

Breckenridge has also entered what our local fire department refers to as the second wildfire season of the year. Our grasses and plants have had a wonderful season of growth, but are now beginning to dry out, creating higher fire danger. With the increasing fire danger, there are also fire restrictions in place to help keep our community safe. These conditions are updated daily, so check with the Concierge or Front Desk for the most current restrictions.

Here is what we have been working on around the property:

  • Activities is hosting fun Oktoberfest activities, including stein decorating and pretzel necklace making. As we move into the fall, look for plenty of new fun things to do!
  • The Grand Room has new patio furniture to enjoy. Later this fall we will be completing a larger update that will include new furniture and carpet inside the Grand Room!
  • Have you ever wondered about getting married or hosting an event at Grand Timber Lodge? The Boot has an event space that works great for groups of up to 100 people!

    Just an observation – when we were there in August we noticed the that the landscaping was getting a little “tired and worn”.

      Hello Michael, Thank you for your feedback about the landscaping. There was an incident in August where the irrigation was mistakenly unplugged. The issue was caught when the landscaping started drying up. We spoke with the landscaping company about this issue and made sure mistakes like that would not happen in the future.

    LOVE GTL. Not a whole lot to improve IMO but I thought I would take the time to say thanks to all of the staff that always make our stay wonderful. GTL is the best resort in Breckenridge for us!

    Also love GTL and coming up to Summit Co all seasons. Is there anyway GTL can replace the bright outside lights with LOW-IMPACT LIGHTING. Would really love to be able to see more of the night sky and the bright stars at night but its hard to do as the lights at GTL are extremely BRIGHT!

      We are actively doing that right now! We are awaiting approval on an Xcel rebate, but will be installing dark sky friendly LED fixtures later this year.
