Holiday Dining Guide

Looking for somewhere to spend your Christmas dinner this year? Look no further. With dozens of restaurants to choose from, Breckenridge is more than just a ski town- it’s a foodie town! Here are a few of our favorite options that are guaranteed to make your holiday dinner memorable.

Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon

Briar Rose is unquestionably one of the cornerstones of the Breckenridge dining scene. Briar lives up to its name as the “best steak in Breckenridge” by offering exceptional hand cuts supplied by premium ranches. If you aren’t in the mood for steak, their wild game and fish options are undeniably delicious as well. One of the best-loved features of their menu are their family-style sides. They are large enough for a group to share so you can try a little bit of everything! If interested in dining during your stay, make sure to give them a call to make reservations or book via OpenTable. With such a high-quality menu and service, they tend to fill up quickly!

Ember

If you are looking for something a bit more unique and adventurous, Ember is the place for you! Ember would never be caught with the typical same-old, same-old on their menu. Their menu is recreated quarterly and their chef isn’t afraid to cook outside the box. There will be things on the menu that you haven’t heard of or can’t pronounce but trust us, you can’t go wrong, it’s all delicious! They are located just off of Main Street on Adams Avenue with a cozy, yet contemporary interior. For a truly magical and memorable holiday dining experience ask to try out one of their outdoor dining snowglobes! Reservations are recommended and can be booked on their website via OpenTable.

Aurum

Located in downtown Breckenridge on Ridge Street, Aurum is known for taking a classic selection and making it extraordinary. From the exterior Aurum seems unassuming, but once you head inside you’ll notice their modern elegance right away. Opened in 2018, Aurum quickly became a favorite date-night spot in Summit County. Our ideal dinner at Aurum would be a starter of crispy curried cauliflower, followed by pan seared duck breast, while sipping on one of their smoked orange old-fashioneds. Yum! For an experience that would elevate your holiday dinner to the level of unforgettable, book one of their private dining yurts. These heated yurts can seat up to twelve adults and are downright magical. Truly a night to remember!

Rootstalk

Rootstalk is relatively new to Breckenridge (established December 2020), but they are the talk of the town. The chef, Matt Vawter, grew up in Summit County and is our new hometown hero. The restaurant is situated on Main Street in a Victorian house built in 1889, making it quintessentially Breckenridge. It is not only their location that makes them special- their menu is exquisite. With a slogan of ‘elevated everyday dining’, their style could be described as upscale comfort food. Rootstalk prides themselves on their knowledgeable servers who provide education along with your meal. Rootstalk describes themselves as “serving approachable seasonal food, thoughtfully curated wine and beverage lists, and creative and fun libations.” They offer their dinner reservations as a la carte from their menu or with the option of 5 or 7 course experiences with optional wine pairing. Check them out and you’ll see why Rootstalk is one of the top-picks of any local foodie.

Hearthstone

Hearthstone is another staple of the Breckenridge community and dining scene. Hearthstone has been in operation for over thirty years making it one of the town’s longest-running restaurants. Located on Ridge Street, Hearthstone is situated in a Victorian-era historic home-turned-restaurant. The home still feels like a home, with small, intimate dining rooms, giving the feeling that you have been transported back to the late 1800’s. The menu intends to “highlight the best of the Rocky Mountain region” with a focus on hand cut steaks, wild game and fresh seafood served with seasonal, Colorado-grown produce. Be sure to pay a visit to this Breckenridge classic during your visit!

South Ridge Seafood Grill

Your mind might not jump straight to seafood when you think of Breckenridge dining, but it certainly will after a visit to South Ridge Seafood Grill! Located on the south end of Main Street, South Ridge serves fresh seafood with a view. Their atmosphere is casual, elegant and welcoming and their quality uncompromising. A couple of fan favorites are the Bangs Island Mussels and the Shrimp and Crab cakes. If you’re interested in a seafood option, South Ridge is the place to go!

Breckenridge Distillery Restaurant

Breckenridge Distillery is not only known for their bourbons, their distillery location on Airport Road features an upscale, yet relaxed mountain dining restaurant. The Breckenridge Distillery Restaurant showcases local ingredients with big and bold flavors. This holiday season, they have something special planned. For both Christmas Eve and New Years’ Eve, Breckenridge Distillery will be featuring a seven-course holiday dinner. With dishes such as sous vide octopus terrine and coffee rubbed venison loin, this menu is a showstopper. Although they are further from our BGV resorts than the other options on this list, Breckenridge Distillery offers a complimentary shuttle daily from 11am-10pm!

Sevens

If you are hoping to stay a little closer to your home away from home, you’re in luck! Sevens, located in the Grand Lodge on Peak 7, has a lovely Christmas Eve family feast planned. The set menu begins with a starter of champagne and amuse-bouche of cranberry and brie tartlet with rosemary and lemon. For entrees, Sevens will have options of deep-fried cajun turkey, wild mushroom and wagyu meat loaf, prime rib au jus or honey glazed ham. For dessert they will have a gingerbread cheesecake bar. If you are interested, the cost will be $85 for adults and $40 for children. Reservations are required!
