Employee Spotlight

This month’s employee spotlight is Brittany DeGraaf! Brittany has worked for BGV for nearly ten years now. Here is a little bit more about Brittany:

What is your favorite place you have traveled to? –The southern island of New Zealand is a must-visit location for anyone that loves adventure, a camper van rental is highly recommended. The Italian coast, with some time in Tuscany, is my ideal relaxing vacation.
Favorite thing to do outside of work? –I love traveling, but for local fun, mountain biking during the summers, and just enjoying the fantastic local community and my family is what keeps Breckenridge special.
What made you move to Breckenridge? –I lived in California for years, but I missed the seasons. Breckenridge is a perfect mix of an outdoor-focused lifestyle, sunshine, and perfect summers.
Favorite part of your job? –We are consistently working to improve our products and communications to help owners have the best possible ownership experience.
What is your role with BGV? –Owner Communication Manager
And last, anything else you would like our owners to know about you? –I’ve worked at BGV for almost 10 years and can honestly say that I’ve never been a part of a company that cares so much about its employees and customers.

This month’s owner spotlight is Skip & Nancy Klenk! Skip & Nancy have been owners with us since 2009. They are owners at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and Grand Colorado on Peak 8. Here is a bit about the Klenk family:

What is your favorite place you have traveled to? – As a family, Breck, every year
How long have you been owners with Breckenridge Grand Vacations? – Since 2002
What property or properties do you own? – Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and the Grand Colorado on Peak 8
What made you join the BGV Family? –Love Breck, love the lodges, love the employees, love being part of the family.
What is your favorite thing about your ownership? –Being able to use bonus time, day use, and our fabulous family week every January.
What is your favorite restaurant in Breckenridge? –Oh so many good ones…but Hearthstone, Twist, Briar Rose, Modis.
Anything else you would like to share about yourself or your ownership? –We love everything about “coming home” to the lodges. It’s such great family time and there’s so much to do. We can’t say enough good things about BGV management and employees.

When we come to Breckenridge, we have TWO “must-do” items on our list. 1) Enjoy the hot tubs outside – no matter the temperature! 2) We always look for a new restaurant to try. We love the vibe of Breck and are so glad to have a home away from home on Peak 7!

Swim in GTL’s pool and soak in the hot pools! All the grandkids love it and can’t wait to go down there, often on check-in day even before dinner. Reading stories is also always a favorite. They call GTL “Nana’s mountain house”. We come in the summer and winter. (the picture isn’t all of us but was the best photo)

We love going restaurant/bar hopping with no set itinerary in downtown Breck! We just walk along, and whatever we feel fits our fancy that evening, we just… do it! We especially love Modis!

As Minnesotan’s, our favorite thing is hiking in the mountains. This is me with the kids at the top of a trail just south of Breckenridge. Absolutely beautiful. Good exercise, great views and excellent bonding with my kids. The wife was having troubles with the high altitude, so she hung back a bit. Even though it was summer, there was snow and cool air at the top to counteract the internal heat we were generating from the vigorous hiking up the mountain. To me, hiking is the best exercise on the planet, when you have views like this.

My husband and I are retired and coming to the Grand Timber Lodge is our favorite get away. We love to hike throughout the many trails in the area. We went on some trails not to far from the lodge to see if we could find the moose we saw last year and found a wonderful surprise. Fall time in Breck is so amazingly beautiful and this lake was an incredible find. Waters so clear you could see the fish swimming around the shore. It’s so wonderful to spend time at the Grand Timber Lodge and enjoy the town and the wonderful surprises you find hiking around Breckenridge.

We go to the mountains for the mountains! And the mountains are best experienced for us in a Jeep. The narrow rocky roads can be frightening, but well worth it for the views, the wildlife, the adventure.

Sofia is now 13 years old and we celebrated her 13th birthday in Breckenridge… She is my skiing buddy, a major part of her and my tradition is to Ski together, just her and I.

Cross country is my to go too. I loved being outside . I am a nurse in a busy ER and anytime I can be outside with my family is my favorite thing. But after my visit to Breckinridge and doing cross county I am even explain the peace I get from being in the wood in the snow and mountains around me. I love it the fresh air and snow. Can’t wait to be back over and over again.

Must do? Stay at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. It is at the base of the best skiing in America, the hot tubs and pools are great, and the food at the Sevens is fantastic.
