Silverthorne First Friday: Wish Lantern Festival

Drawing inspiration from Mexico’s Noche de Candela and the Lunar New Year, February First Friday will honor cultural traditions as we welcome a new year with our friends and neighbors. Make a wish and send your lantern down the Blue River! There will also be salsa lessons, live music, and crafts available.

Mardi Gras 4 Paws

Mardi Gras 4Paws, inspired by the Krewe of Barkus Parade in New Orleans, comes to Frisco on Saturday, February 10, 2024 with its own version of Mardi Gras for our four-legged friends! Hosted by the Town of Frisco and Hope For Animals – Clear Creek Rescue – this event is a costumed parade for dogs and their families.

Frisco Freeze Winter Bike Race

Join us for the 8th Annual Frisco Freeze Fat Bike Race at the Frisco Nordic Center. This is your one chance this winter to ride your fat bike on the Frisco Nordic trails! Registration fee includes a registration gift, post-race food, and a beer (for racers 21+ only) from Highside Brewing.

Swan River Snowshoe with Blue River Watershed Group

Blue River Watershed Group will be holding a group snowshoe at Tiger Road! This excursion will be a great way to learn more about BRWG’s projects as we walk along the bank of the Swan River through a newly restored section of the river reclaimed from historical dredge mining debris. Learn a bit about Summit County’s mining history, the Swan River ecosystem, and how you can help with this project’s completion and others throughout the County.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

The Banff Mountain Film Fest returns to Breckenridge for the 14th year to benefit the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC)! The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings inspiring, thought-provoking, action, environmental, and adventure mountain films to Breckenridge for this two-night event.

Colorado Mountain Mushers Sled Dog Race

February 24-25

Colorado Mountain Mushers Sled Dog Race is returning to Summit County! This family-friendly race will use the Winter multi-use track at the Dillon Marina. In the 70s, Rocky Mountain Sled Dog Club, Colorado Mountain Mushers’ sister club, was responsible for having over 100 teams on the ice. Spectators are welcome! Please consider leaving dogs not participating at home. Keep all dogs on a leash and discourage dog introductions on race day to ensure a safe and fun race for all.

HC3: Party For The Planet

Party for the Planet is HC3’s (High Country Conservation Center) largest fundraiser of the year. We invite you to celebrate with local brews, live music, delicious food, an award ceremony, and a huge silent auction with all proceeds supporting local conservation.

Silverthorne First Friday: Rail Jam

March 1

The Town of Silverthorne will host its seventh annual Rail Jam! The Rail Jam will feature over 100 athletes competing for cash prizes in four categories, including men’s snowboard, men’s ski, women’s snowboard, and women’s ski. During the event, enjoy live music, live art, and food.

Leadville Skijoring

March 2-3

The Leadville Ski Joring event has been going on in Leadville since 1949 and is one of the premier events of its kind in the country. Ski Joring is a competition where a horse and rider pull a skier at a fast pace through a course that has gates, jumps, and rings. The skier is timed through the course, and penalties are assessed by missing gates or jumps and by missing or dropping the baton or any of the rings.

Breckenridge Backstage Theater Presents: Inventing Van Gogh

Enjoy a live theater performance of Inventing Van Gogh presented by Breckenridge Backstage Theater! A haunting and hallucinatory drama about the making of art, INVENTING VAN GOGH is the story of the final van Gogh self-portrait, painted just before the artist’s death, which was never seen… until now.

Dew Tour

March 8-10

Dew Tour returns to Summit County for its 20th year! The Winter Dew Tour will include the world’s best male and female skiers and snowboarders competing in individual Superpipe and Streetstyle events, live music, and a calendar of fan-based activities, including a special retrospective of the past 20 years of Dew Tour. As always, Dew Tour remains open to the public, offering an unforgettable experience for all winter sports enthusiasts.

Frisco BrewSki

March 9

Head over to the Frisco Nordic Center for their annual beer festival on skis- BrewSki! Don your favorite costume and stop at beer-tasting tents along the trail! Prizes are available for the best costumes, and more beer tasting and music is available at the outdoor after-party. Sample beers from Colorado breweries while on skis- what’s more Colorado than that?!

Fly Fishing Film Tour

The annual Breckenridge Fly Fishing Film Tour is a benefit event offering a traveling roadshow of the best fly fishing films in the world. This is the 18th Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T), offering short films that are sure to get you fired up for the season ahead. While the event is a collection of great cinematography, the BreckF3T aims to create community by supporting disabled veterans, high school stream ecology education, and local conservation efforts.

USASA National Championships

March 30-April 11

From March 30th – April 11th, Copper Mountain Resort is proud to host the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) National Championships. Woodward and Copper’s ongoing commitment to empowering and inspiring youth through sports, community, and culture is demonstrated as 1500+ snowboard and freeski athletes from across the U.S. compete in the winter season finale.

Silverthorne First Fridays: Rollerama

April 5

Join the Town of Silverthorne for a special April First Friday Rollerama event at the Silverthorne Recreation Center! Head to the Silverthorne Recreation Center on Friday, April 5, for live music, a neon-decorated roller skating rink set up in the gymnasium, free skate rentals, and free use of the Recreation Center.

Imperial Challenge

The Imperial Challenge is the Breckenridge version of a triathlon! Competitors start the race from the Breckenridge Recreation Center, bike up to Peak 8, transition to uphill gear, and skin to the top of Peak 8 at 12,987 feet. The race’s final leg is a downhill ski to finish back at the base of Peak 7!

Copper Mountain Slush Rush and Sunsation

April 27-28

The legacy continues with Sunsation, the finest spring festival in all of the Colorado high country! Sunsation is a two day long spring celebration at Copper Mountain that features live band and DJ performances, revelry, and the Slush Rush! In the Slush Rush, skiers and riders alike are welcome to join in teams of three to compete in a relay race that combines several snow sport competition favorites—with a twist. Costumes encouraged.

Play Forever Thursdays at Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain’s Play Forever initiative aims to protect the environment and support our community. During the 2023/24 winter season, $99 discounted tickets purchased online in advance will have a portion of proceeds benefit select Play Forever Thursdays partner organizations. This year, Copper will be partnering with 21 organizations over the course of the season. Support our local organizations and spend a day at Copper Mountain!

FDRD & Ski With A Ranger

One of our most treasured local non-profit organizations, Friends of Dillon Ranger District (FDRD), offers a variety of programs to keep us learning and exploring all winter! Friends of Dillon Ranger District is a locally-based stewardship organization that, with the help of volunteers and collaboration with the US Forest Service, works for sustainable management of our local forest. Explore the programs offered by FDRD this season!

FDRD is proud to provide free, on-hill cultural and natural history tours from January through March. Our trained Ski Rangers lead participants down a beginner or intermediate ski run, stopping periodically to discuss topics from local flora and fauna to geography and history and answering questions. These one-hour tours require participants to have a valid lift ticket or pass, intermediate skiing or riding ability, and a desire to learn — no pre-registration required.

Riverwalk Center Performances

The Riverwalk Center is a 750-seat (1000-standing) heated indoor performance venue that features a diverse range of ticketed live events, including concerts, lectures, and performances showcasing local, national, and international talent. Check out the lineup for this winter season!
